wordybirdies look forward to the week-end!

oh yes we do...particularly if there is going to be some sunshine!

as I am writing this, there is actually snow coming down outside the window...nothing compared to what is evidently going on in the Highlands but enough for me to start wondering when winter will stop and spring will arrive.

who knows, maybe then the wordybirdies could write a poem about daffodils...that's never been done before, after all!

thinking of a theme for this week's Poem...maybe the Winter Olympics? That's a celebration of all things snowy, in a way, and also of people who plunge down icy mountains head first on what appears to be a tin tray! Well done, Amy Williams!

frustration and versification!

frustrating trying to work on some poetry while next door's music has huge bass beats thumping out - wordybirdies pride themselves on being able to compose verse anywhere but all the same...still, we like a challenge and the verses are coming along slowly - these are for the two-woman show that we are putting together...exciting times, folks!

and the snow is melting...hands up if all you want is a glimpse of spring - yes, us too!

wordybirdies say - THINK!

Yes, folks, today, 22nd February is Thinking Day, which will be instantly reconigsable to those of you who were Brownies, Guides, Cubs or Scouts. Something to do with the Baden-Powells' birthday, I think.

Anyway, how about a bit of thinking then? wordybirdies thinking we should have written our Weekly Poem about this but we love this week's offering about the DIY enthusiasts so much that Thinking Day has been put aside in favour of it. If you want to love that poem too it's on the website at www.wordybirdies.co.uk

Still, thinking is free - at least it is at present! do it before it's taxed - so treat yourselves today, set aside ten minutes and have a good old think about something you don't normally even pause to ponder.

What will that be, we wonder?

For one wordybirdie, it will be - how does that blue tit manage to hang upside-down on the bird feeder when the robin just can't figure it out at all and has to wait for the scraps that fall on the ground?

Maybe we should rename this Philosophy Day!

anniversaries etc.

Yes, today is the twenty-seventh anniversary of Nelson Mandela walking to freedom...if you remember the TV footage then you'll surely never forget it.
Sometimes, when the news is full of war, woe and worry, it pays just to take a moment or two to ponder the great moments in history, especially if you were around to witness it even at secondhand on the TV.

The world is much much bigger than just you and me...easy to forget that when we are caught up in the minutiae of our daily lives.

have a good day - twenty-seven years ago February 10th was a very good day...for everyone.

here's to many more...for all of us.

wordybirdies look forward to a new week

well, the opening week-end of the Six Nations was terrible and not just because Wales lost, sorry, threw it away...the other two games were poor as well.

We need better than this, folks - we need a win!

That's the motivational team talk over for today then - next is the work on our Weekly Poem which this week will be on the theme of LOVE - what else...

lots more lovely things happening this week too - it's nice to start out on a Monday looking forward to the week to come...

six nations week-end - wordybirdies say yippee!

well, one of the wordybirdies does...not sure the other one is quite so bothered.

the red shirt is washed, ironed and hanging in the wardrobe ready for five-o-clock - not sure anyone can predict the result with confidence but as always happy to go out on a limb here and say Wales will prevail!

gorgeous day out there - perfect for poetry! Let's hope there's some action on the pitch that inspires it - if not, then you can always see the Six Nations Weekly Poem on our website www.wordybirdies.co.uk

have a great day - whichever nation you are supporting.

hwyl!

great poems under construction at wordybirdies!

yes, that is a bit of blowing our own trumpet there, but why not? it is almost the week-end, after all!

wordybirdies currently working on a couple of cracking performance poems ahead of our next public engagement - more details of that in due course - poems which we hope will keep the audience enthralled as well as laughing themselves off the edge of their seats!

Maybe we'll post an excerpt here sometime soon so that you too can laugh yourself off the edge of your seat.

we live to entertain, people!

wordybirdies take on the crunch!

yes, we do! who in their right minds would start a business in the pit of a recession, you might ask? well, we would! someone has to start those green shoots of recovery (how that phrase has been adopted by everyone since it was first uttered in public!) so it might as well be us.

it seems that potential customers are everywhere once we start looking and people are really liking our poetry so we both have all our fingers crossed that things will get better and better as time goes on.

it's an amazing, exciting journey that we've embarked upon and we're having a ball!

Monday, 1 February 2010
